Korean Crypto Exchange Upbit Suffers $50 Million ETH Hot Wallet Hack

Upbit, South Korea’s largest cryptocurrency exchange by market-share and trading, has been hacked. At the moment, all trading activities, deposits, and withdrawals are temporarily suspended. On Nov. 27, Lee Seok-woo, the CEO of Dunamoo, the company that operates Upbit, confirmed in an official statement that 342,000 ETH was transferred from Upbit’s hot (online) wallet to an unknown wallet. Its primary purpose is to provide the “real trading activity” of most of the cryptocurrencies and crypto exchanges in the industry. Bitcoin Price Recovers as Dow Suffers Worst Week in a Decade

The latest equity market data makes for pretty grim reading for conventional equity traders, as it shows that the Dow Jones Industrial Average has suffered its worst week since the global financial crisis of 2008. According to the data, the Dow lost 1,655 points or about 7 percent in its worst week-on-week decline in 10 years with no immediate sign of recovery on the horizon.
